JONESBORO, Ark. (8/19/14) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team has announced its 2014-15 schedule, which includes six fall and seven spring tournaments set to be played in nine different states.
The Red Wolves open the campaign Sept. 8-9 at the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Miss., before traveling to Memphis, Tenn., for the Memphis Intercollegiate Sept. 15-16. A-State has a few weeks off before its next tournament, the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, in Overland Park, Kan., Oct. 13-14 and then goes to the Delta Timber/UAM Fall Classic in Cabot, Ark., Oct. 20-21 for individuals.
Arkansas State travels to Estero, Fla., for the Florida Gulf Coast University/Cooper Hotels Invitational Oct. 27-28 and wraps up the fall season as they host the A-State Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Nov. 3-4.
“I’m excited about this year,” A-State men’s golf coach Steve Johnson said. “We’ve had a great summer with many members of the team playing well during the break. We have several new faces but very talented ones. If we can gel together as a team then it should be a good season.”
A-State begins its spring schedule at the Texas-Pan American Broncs Intercollegiate Feb. 16-17 in Mission, Texas and then travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Bash at the Beach March 9-10. The Red Wolves go to Sevierville, Tenn., for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate March 16-18 and conclude the month with a trip to Lake Worth, Fla., for the FAU/Slomin Autism Championship March 27-29.
The Red Wolves begin the month of April by hosting the Red Wolves Intercollegiate at Ridgepointe Country Club April 3-5 in Jonesboro and will attempt to defend their title from a season ago. A-State’s last regular season tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship will be the Oral Roberts Shootout in Broken Arrow, Okla., April 13-14 with the league’s championship set for April 20-22 at a site yet to be determined.
